Live Wire Music Series is a volunteer driven, non-profit music series dedicated to bringing to Kingston a diverse selection of some of the finest singer/songwriters and bands from across Canada. Performers may include roots, folk, blues, and global musicians.

Scheduled events are as follows:

Treasa Levasseur:

Toronto's brilliant young blues/gospel multi-instrumentalist with a powerful and dynamic voice:

Broken-heart ballads, barroom blues, gospel style inspirationals, raunchy rock... Treasa plays whatever shakes her soul. Her lyrics are smart, poetic, and socially conscious. She has a whole lot to say, and she says it with sincerity and sass, with a powerhouse voice that cannot be ignored or denied.

Influenced by the whole sisterhood of soulful sirens, from Joni Mitchell to Etta James, Carole King to Dusty Springfield and all the way back to Bessie Smith, Treasa's roots spread far and dig deep. She plays piano, accordion, guitar, mandolin, and anything else she can get her hands on.

Her new cd Not a Straight Line is an eclectic melange of blues, jazz, funk, rock, and even a subtle note of country. Consistent throughout are Levasseur's fresh lyrics and mature storytelling” - Time Magazine Canada “Think Joni Mitchell, Etta James, Carole King and Dusty Springfield rolled into one” Greetings Live Wire Supporters!

We hope that you have your tickets for the great show coming up this Friday night (Feb.16) at the Octave. What a night it will be! Willie P. Bennett, a legend in Canadian music, will be making a rare solo appearance and the spectacularly talented James Hill will open for Willie. Get down to Tara's, Brian's Record Option or Renaissance Music quickly to make sure you aren't disappointed.

Sat. March 31 - A wonderful double bill at The Octave featuring two great acts. KoboTown, from Toronto, plays music that is a mixture of calypso, Trinidadian roots reggae and dub along with Treasa Levasseur. They're political, fun, and really energetic and are quickly becoming one of Toronto's most exciting world music groups.

Sat. April 28 - We're moving to The Italo Canadian Club for this one. We're billing it as an Alt Grass Extravaganza featuring two time Juno Award winner Jenny Whiteley, mandolin maniac Dan Whiteley and Kingston's own Luther Wright along with some more of their very talented friends. You'll find out more about this one as the date gets closer but be assured that it will be a night to remember.

All three shows a mere $45 - what an amazing deal!!! That's it! Thanks for supporting great live music in Kingston.

See you on Saturday night Al Rankin
